Day 3: Historical Harbour

It was definitely a case of 'take 2' when we journeyed out the hotel door for the city and Pearl Harbour tour. Today we were actually met on time and by a fantastic tour guide, though we can't remember his name. We can recollect that he was a local Hawaiian, who had some funny stories linking to his tats about ex girlfriends. Off we headed and had a brilliant view from the top level of the double decker.

Today was a combination of somber and interesting history, as well as a couple of locations from more modern day tv filming locations. The guide brought himself to tears at one point when he spoke of the Pearl Harbour bombing and air raids. He deserved his tip at the end of the day!

The tour was about 5 hours in total, with about 2 hours spent at Pearl Harbour. Thank God the toilet was nearby, because there were about 6 trips in two hours.....apparently this bladder situation is only going to get worse....yippee!

At the end of the tour instead of returning to our drop off point near our hotel, we thought that it was a good opportunity to get out at the stop nearest to the Ala Moana Centre. It was only a short walk and we were hoping there was a cinema in there and something for lunch. Alas...no cinema, but we were able to have phò and ice-cream.....not together and not the both of us. Bet you can't work out who had what? It's not a trick question!

We only picked up a couple of things today, but it was something to do, which was relaxing and we managed a sit down with a nice coffee along the way.

We took the $2 pink tourist shuttle back to central Waikiki and to our our hotel to freshen up and headed out to The Big Kahuna's for you guessed it.....a burger and some nachos. Not healthy but it was yummy. Holidays and unhealthy habits are always hand in hand! Having said that, we only had cereal for breakfast and a banana snack.

  1. I remember Rod taking me to the cinema to see the movie Pearl Harbor and I didn't know the history of it (don't ask me why not) and I howled. Imagine if I was there in real life? Looking good guys.
