Day Seven: With my rag top down, so my hair can blow!

For our first morning in Maui, we got ourselves up and ready around 10am and headed upstairs for a morning espresso with Gianna. Matteo had not long been gone to the restaurant, as he opens for lunch on a Friday - well most days actually.

It was time to drop the roof and go cruising! We'd already nutted out going to check out Lahiana, situated on the west coast as this was where we thought it best to tee up a whale watching cruise. Upon speaking with our wonderful hostess, we learned that we could also book them from a closer place called Maalaea

So heading off, we cruised the beach road taking our time to Maalaea, where we found the Pacific Whale Foundation. This is a non-profit organisation, so at least our tourism dollars were going to a great cause. We actually booked this for tomorrow, because it was a little windy today and there were a great deal more options available to us.

Maalaea is a lovely, yet very small place opposite the water on the coastal road. Once we'd locked in the tour for tomorrow, we decided that it was definitely time for some food. Just opposite the water we found a place called Beach Bums Bar and Grill. As we hadn't had any breakfast, we didn't mind the large serve meal for a change. It was your typical American offering, but nice all the same.

Today we drove to a lovely part of Maui called Lahaina (rhymes with....) This was a beautiful part of the island and we really took the opportunity to drive all the way slowly along the coastal road in our Mustang to enjoy the surrounds! Another reason for going their was the dentist. Yes the veneer was fixed....a mere $161.00 later for a 20 minute glue down and polish, but hey, now there isn't a worry about losing the 'loosey' in the beach! The dentist also commented on how beautifully constructed the veneer was. Winner!

While waiting to get into the dentist, we took a stroll along the front street of Lahaina, which had the feel of a sea town with quaint shops that had timber finishes and the odd porthole. This area is a slow paced meandering area perfect for tourists who aren't in any rush. We decided to sit and watch the ocean, with a cheeky mocktail and of course a cocktail....it was happy hour after all....and hot! Mind you with happy hour it meant the alcoholic drink was almost half the price of the non-alcoholic drink!

We still had some more time up our sleeves before making our way to the dentist, so instead of paying for the parking, we thought that visiting the new mall instead with parking validation was much better! We found another Tommy Hlfigure store having an awesome sale. 2 more pairs of jeans and three shirts between us. Love a little unplanned shop! Best time to spot a bargain.

After the dentist it was just after 6pm, so it was best to head back to the house to start thinking about dinner and freshening up. On Trip Advisor we found a place in the nearby area of Wailea called Monkeypod Kitchen. It was absolutely pumping! We got in for a late dinner at 9pm, which apparently coincided nicely with an unexpected Happy Hour, giving us half price pizza. We shared the pizza, amazing pork tacos and a banana cream pie!!!! OMG it was an absolute taste sensation. After dinner we called it a night and reflected on the great day that we'd had.
